What happens in the artic?
Global warming causes extreme weather, higher temperatures in summer, but also hail storms.
And winters now can be too warm or too cold.
Due to this, some animal species can no longer exist in the habitat they lived before.
Glaciers high in the mountains of central Africa have decreased or are no longer there were they used to be a century ago when scientists recorded that and there is more melting ice floating in the arctic.
The high peaks are part of Cerro Torre and the Fitz Roy in N.P. Los Glaciares.
These peaks are not the tallest in the world, but they are very pointy and so they do belong to the most difficult to climb.
On the glacier
Walking between glacier ice with a guide who checks out the situation every day.
This is very important: every day the glacier moves forward, so everytime ice caves and cracks move too. One day a part of the glacier can be save and the other day it can be very dangerous.
Wrangell St. Elias Mountains Nationaal Park, Alaska.
Tasman Glacier
I hopped over to another part of the world in the deep south.
This is the Tasman Glacier at the south island of New Zealand.
Also a beautiful place.
The dirt in front is very dangerous to walk on, the dirt is just a layer of soil on glacier ice.
In the glacier ice there are very deep cracks and caves.
